Tottenham Hotspur's English forward Harry Kane had a historic night on Monday as the 29-year-old scored his 266th goal in a narrow win at Fulham to be his club's joint all-time top scorer.

Kane, a longtime Tottenham Hotspur player, curled the ball into the corner, as Spurs beat Fulham 1-0 at London's Craven Cottage.

The 29-year-old England forward equaled Tottenham Hotspur legend Jimmy Greaves' 266-goal record in all competitions for the London club.

Greaves was a Spurs forward from 1961-1970 and died in 2021 when he was 81. He was a part of England's 1966 FIFA World Cup winning squad.

Separately it was Kane's 199th goal in 300 Premier League games. He will join the English top-flight league's 200 club after Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney.

England's Shearer scored 260 goals to be the Premier League's all-time highest scorer. His compatriot Rooney had 208 goals.

Both players have already retired from the game.

This season Tottenham Hotspur has 36 points in 21 league matches to be fifth in the Premier League led by archrivals Arsenal, who have collected 50 points.

Spurs will next play against Manchester City in a league match in London on Feb. 5.

Before the Man City clash in the league, Tottenham Hotspur will visit lower division team Preston North End in the FA Cup on Saturday, as Kane will beat Greaves if he scores in the match.
