Lionel Messi has been ruled of the Ligue 1 game against Montpellier on Saturday due to his injury, Paris Saint-Germain announced on Friday.

In a statement on its website, the club said that Messi has started running again in line with his treatment protocol.

Leo, who took a knock to his left knee against Lyon last week, also missed the game against Metz on Wednesday.

The 34-year-old attacker, who joined PSG from Barcelona in August, played three games and yet to score or make an assist.

Argentine superstar is a six-time Ballon d'Or winner, led Barca to 10 La Liga championships, won seven Copa del Rey titles, eight Spanish Super Cups, three FIFA Club World Cups, and three UEFA Super Cups.
