LONDON (AA) - Turkish soccer club Galatasaray's Chairman Unal Aysal attended the "Leaders in Football" conference in British capital London on Thursday.
The conference aims to bring leaders in the football industry together to discuss business, knowledge and best practice in a unique networking environment.
Addressing the audience at the "Health Competition: European Club Presidents Debate" titled panel where Agnelli, the President of Italian giant Juventus will also spoke, Aysal touched on Galatasaray's number of fans as they were the most popular team in Turkey. He said that Galatasaray had 25 million fans whereas Fenerbahce's fans were between 23-24 million and that Besiktas had 6 million fans.
After the conference, Aysal replied the questions of British media members who showed great attention to his press meeting. Asking him about Galatasary's new coach Roberto Mancini that what made Aysal appoint him, he replied saying, "First of all he is a successful manager and he has good conditions. And also, Galatasaray need some change in these days because after two years of successes in Turkish premier league and also in Champions league last year, we went up to the quarter finals, I think Roberto Mancini will bring a new colour to Turkish football and also to Galatasaray."
Upon another question of, "Are you confident in qualifying to the Champions league group, it’s a tough group", Galatasaray's chairman stated, "It’s a very tough group, we are playing with Real Madrid, Juventus, also with Copenhagen, three of them are very good teams. We have a hard job to do, but I think we have some chance."
