ANKARA 

CSKA Moscow defeated reigning champs Anadolu Efes 100-96 on Friday in a Turkish Airlines EuroLeague regular season clash. 

Tornike Shengelia led the Russian side, scoring 23 points in the most highly-anticipated matchup of the season at Istanbul's Sinan Erdem Sports Hall.

Johannes Voigtmann and Gabriel Lundberg each added 17 points for CSKA.

Vasilije Micic was the game’s top scorer with 32 points in a losing effort.

Adrien Moerman finished with 14 points and Shane Larkin added 12 for the losing team.

Anadolu Efes coach Ergin Ataman received his EuroLeague Coach of the Year Award for the 2020-2021 season before the game.

The Istanbul club started the new season with two consecutive losses while CSKA Moscow secured their first win of the new season.
