Chelsea were shocked by Croatia's Dinamo Zagreb 1-0, and Manchester City thrashed Sevilla 4-0, as the 2022-23 UEFA Champions League campaign began on Tuesday evening.

Underdogs Dinamo Zagreb beat Chelsea in Croatia's Zagreb as Mislav Orsic scored the winning goal in the 13th minute.

The English club's new signings Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Raheem Sterling played in Group E game.

Meanwhile, Norwegian star Erling Haaland-led Manchester City visited Sevilla to beat their Spanish opponents 4-0 in a Group G match.

Haaland struck double to play an important role in the victory.

The Norwegian forward scored the opening goal in minute 20 at Seville's Estadio Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan. Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden scored the second goal.

Then Haaland followed a rebound by Sevilla goalkeeper Yassine Bounou to finish in the box.

Near the end of the game, Manchester City defender Ruben Dias finished in the six-yard box to name the result.

Haaland, a former Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund regular, has scored 25 Champions League goals in 20 appearances.

The 22-year-old is now the fastest player to tally 25 Champions League goals as former PSV Eindhoven and Manchester United forward Ruud van Nistelrooy has done it in 30 games.

PSG beat Juventus 2-1, Mbappe strikes double

In Group H, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) beat Juventus 2-1 at home as French star Kylian Mbappe scored twice in the first half at Parc des Princes.

In the 53rd minute, Juventus' US midfielder Weston McKennie scored a header to narrow the gap but it was not enough for the Italian club as PSG sealed a 2-1 win.

Mbappe, who previously played for Monaco, is the youngest player to score 35 Champions League goals. He is 23 years and 260 days old.

UEFA confirmed that the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner surpassed Argentine forward Lionel Messi by 47 days, and Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo, who is a former Real Madrid regular, was 27 years and 59 days old when he scored 35 goals in the Champions League.

Real Madrid win over Celtic

Defending champions Real Madrid beat Scotland's Celtic 3-0 in a Group F match in Glasgow.

Vinicius Junior, Luka Modric and Eden Hazard were the scorers for Real Madrid.

Separately, Ukraine's Shakhtar Donetsk beat Germany's RB Leipzig 4-1 in a Group F match in Leipzig that caused the dismissal of the German club's head coach Domenico Tedesco on Wednesday.

Inter without Lukaku against Bayern Munich

Italian club Inter Milan will face German powerhouse Bayern Munich on Wednesday at Milan's San Siro.

Inter's Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku will miss the Group C clash due to injury.

Due to muscular problems, Lukaku also did not play in last weekend's derby that AC Milan won 3-2.
