Atletico Mineiro win 1st Brazilian Serie A title in 50 years

Atletico Mineiro won their 1st Brazilian Serie A title in 50 years by defeating Bahia 3-2 on Friday.

The Belo Horizonte team scored three goals in five minutes at the Itaipava Fonte Nova Arena in Salvadore, Brazil.

After a silent first half, Bahia scored two goals in four minutes, with Luiz Otavio and Junior in the 62nd and 66th minute, respectively, shocking the away team Atletico Mineiro.

But Atletico got over the shock quickly as the referee pointed the penalty spot and Brazilian star Hulk scored the first goal of his team in the 73rd minute.

Keno Franca equalized the score just one minute later, and scored again in the 77th minute, bringing victory to his team.

With this win, Galo claimed their second Brazilian Serie A title with 81 points in 36 matches, but first since the 1970-71 season.

Brazilian star forwards Hulk and Diego Costa contributed to the team's success with 18 and four goals, respectively.
