Ukraine’s General Staff claimed on Thursday that its forces carried out a series of “successful strikes” in January on the Kapustin Yar missile site in Russia’s Astrakhan region, where the Oreshnik missile was launched.
According to a statement, pre-launch preparations for intercontinental and medium-range ballistic missiles are conducted at Kapustin Yar’s complex of hangar-type facilities.
Ukraine said it used locally produced long-range strike weapons during the attacks, including the FP-5 Flamingo cruise missile.
“According to available information, some of the buildings at the test site were damaged to varying degrees, one of the hangars was significantly damaged, and some personnel were evacuated from the territory,” the statement said.
Russian officials have not commented on Ukraine’s claims.
