Russia says agreement on tourism with Ukraine 'terminated'
Procedure of agreement termination officially ends, according to Russian Foreign Ministry
The Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday the agreement on cooperation in tourism with Ukraine has been terminated.
"On May 12, 2021, the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on cooperation in the field of tourism, signed in Kiev on July 16, 1999, was terminated," the ministry said.
The procedure of the agreement termination was launched on March 31 by the Ukrainian government under a common line on withdrawal from agreements with Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States and its turn to "European path."
Kyiv motivated its decision to terminate the agreement on tourism by "absence of cooperation in this industry, and absence prospects for establishing such cooperation."
Till 2014, Ukraine ranked 12th globally in the number of tourist visits, and in 2013, some 24.6 million people visited the country, with 10 million of them Russian citizens.Anadolu Agency website contains only a portion of the news stories offered to subscribers in the AA News Broadcasting System (HAS), and in summarized form.
