WASHINGTON (AA) - US Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel held phone call with his Egyptian counterpart, Defense General Abdul Fatah Al-Sisi on Monday afternoon, said Pentagon.
Pentagon Press Secretary George Little released a statement in regards to the phone call between Hagel and al-Sisi, which said, "Secretary Hagel and Minister al-Sisi discussed progress in US and EU mediation efforts led by Deputy Secretary of State Bill Burns and EU Special Representative Bernadino Leon."
Little added, "Minister al-Sisi underscored his commitment to peaceful resolution of the ongoing protests in Egypt, and thanked Secretary Hagel for US support. Minister al-Sisi affirmed the commitment of the interim civilian government to an inclusive political roadmap for all Egyptians."
