SAMSUN, TURKEY - JUNE 19: An aerial view of an island at Lake Altinkaya Dam in Vezirkopru district of Turkey's northern Samsun province on June 19, 2019. Kaplancik Canyon is located 23 kilometers from Vezirkopru district as it is the second canyon of Altinkaya Dam. While remaining unexplored the canyon reaches a length of two kilometers as turquoise and green colored waters of Kizilirmak river find a course between the cliffs. Couple of islands that differ in sizes are found at the lake. Kaplancik Canyon bear traces of Hellenistic and Roman period. Besides its natural beauty, the canyon offers opportunities such as canoeing, dragon boat, paragliding, paramotoring, base jump, slackline and highline, rock climbing and trekking.
