Kuwait says missiles, drones intercepted amid US-Iran war

Explosions heard resulted from interception operations, military statement says

ISTANBUL

Kuwait said air defenses intercepted missiles and drones on Thursday evening as regional tensions heightened in the wake of a US-Israeli attack on Iran.

A military statement said explosions heard in various areas across the country were the result of interception operations by the country’s air defenses.

The statement did not specify from the projectiles originated.

Iran has launched missiles and drones toward Israel and Gulf countries that are home to US military assets since Feb. 28. Some of the attacks have caused casualties and damage to civilian sites, including ports and residential buildings.

Tehran says the attacks came in response to a US-Israeli military campaign against Iran that has killed hundreds of people, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and top military officials.
