Israeli army admits killing 2 Palestinians in northern Gaza despite ceasefire

At least 342 Gazans killed, nearly 900 others injured in Israeli attacks since ceasefire, according to authorities

JERUSALEM/ ISTANBUL

The Israeli army acknowledged on Monday evening that it had killed two Palestinians in the northern Gaza Strip, in the latest violation of a ceasefire agreement.

A military statement claimed that army forces shot and killed two Palestinians in two separate incidents in northern Gaza after they allegedly posed “an immediate threat” to troops.

The Israeli army repeatedly uses this claim to justify fatal attacks on Palestinians despite the ceasefire deal that took effect on Oct. 10.

Medical sources told Anadolu early Monday that a Palestinian had been killed in shelling by an Israeli drone east of the Zeitoun neighborhood in Gaza City.

The targeted site lies outside the area from which Israeli forces withdrew under the ceasefire deal.

According to Gaza’s Government Media Office, at least 342 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 900 others injured in Israeli attacks since the ceasefire.

Since October 2023, the Israeli army has killed more than 70,000 people in Gaza, mostly women and children, and injured over 171,000 others in a brutal assault that also left the enclave in ruins.
