Israel arrests 29 Palestinians in West Bank raids
According to estimates, more than 6,000 Palestinians are currently held in Israeli prisons
RAMALLAH, Palestine
Israeli forces rounded up 29 Palestinians in overnight raids carried out across the occupied West Bank, according to the military on Wednesday.
The individuals were arrested for "suspected involvement in terrorist activities”, the army said -- without elaborating -- in a statement.
It said the suspects were kept in custody for further investigation.
The Israeli army frequently carries out wide-ranging arrest campaigns across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians.
According to estimates, more than 6,000 Palestinians are currently languishing in Israeli detention facilities, including women, children and a handful of lawmakers.
