ANKARA
Iran’s military said Thursday it struck Israel’s internal security ministry in Jerusalem with drones in retaliation for the recent killings of top officials.
A military statement said the attack was “in response to the blood of the heroes" of the warship IRIS Dena, and Intelligence Minister Ismail Khatib.
Several Iranian naval personnel were killed on March 4 when the US attacked IRIS Dena south of Sri Lanka, as it was returning from exercises in India, while Khatib was killed in an Israeli airstrike earlier this week.
The US and Israel have continued a joint offensive on Iran since Feb. 28, killing so far over 1,300 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure while disrupting global markets and aviation.
