Air raid sirens sound in Kuwait amid rising regional tensions

No immediate explanation from authorities for alert

ISTANBUL

Air raid sirens sounded in Kuwait late Thursday, according to Arab media reports.

There was no immediate explanation from authorities regarding the reason for the alert.

Earlier, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense announced that it had detected and dealt with 212 ballistic missiles and 394 drones that targeted the country’s airspace since Feb. 28.

The activation of the sirens comes amid escalating regional tensions linked to the ongoing war by Israel and the US against Iran, which has intensified in recent days.

Iran has responded to the attacks with missile and drone strikes targeting sites inside Israel as well as locations associated with the US military presence in the region.
