Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan witnessed the signing of agreements in China on Monday covering several fields, including energy.
The Abu Dhabi Media Office said in a statement that bin Mohamed discussed with Chinese Premier Li Qiang ways to strengthen a comprehensive strategic partnership between the United Arab Emirates and China.
The two sides witnessed the signing of several memoranda of understanding aimed at expanding cooperation in various sectors of mutual interest, most notably clean energy and advanced technology, the statement said.
The Chinese premier, for his part, vowed to increase Beijing’s role in promoting peace and stability in the Gulf region, according to state-run news agency Xinhua.
The visit comes amid rising regional escalation in the wake of US-Israeli attacks on Iran. Tehran retaliated with carrying out missile and drone strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq and Gulf countries hosting US military assets.
