Abductors reportedly demanded ransom for release of Jordanian businessmen

AMMAN 

Two Jordanian businessmen were abducted in South Africa, the country’s Foreign Ministry said on Saturday.  

“The kidnappers have demanded ransom for their release,” ministry spokesman Sofian Qudah said in a statement.  

He said the abductees were a father and his son.  

No information was yet available about the kidnappers.  

The spokesman said the Jordanian Embassy in Pretoria was “closely following the situation with the local authorities there”.  

There was no comment from the authorities in South Africa on the incident.
