Virus cases in Eurasia, Central Asia rise by 5,600

KIEV

More coronavirus cases and fatalities were reported in several Eurasian and Central Asian countries on Friday.

Ukraine

Ukraine registered 4,661 new virus cases over the past 24 hours, its biggest single-day increase since the start of the pandemic, bringing the tally to 222,322, Health Minister Maxim Stepanov said.

The death toll from the virus rose to 4,353 as 92 more people died over the past day, while 2,146 more people recovered, raising the tally to 98,737.

Georgia

Georgia's Prime Ministry said in a statement that there were a total of 7,695 cases in the country, with 471 additions over the past day.

The death toll has reached 48, with two more fatalities.

The total number of recoveries have reached 3,992 as 278 more patients recovered over the past 24 hours.

Uzbekistan

In a statement, the Health Ministry said with 278 more people contracting the virus, the total number of cases climbed to 57,924, while the total number of fatalities rose to 473 with two new deaths.

The official data showed that another 118 people recovered from the disease, bringing the count to 54,456, which approximately translates to a 94% recovery rate.

A total of 2,992 people are going through medical treatment in the country.

Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan confirmed that 128 people were diagnosed with the virus over the past day, bringing the total number of cases to 47,184.

The Health Ministry said the total number of people recovered from the virus reached 43,278, with another 141 recoveries over the past day.

Over 21,385 people are receiving treatment and a total of 1,066 have lost their lives to the coronavirus in the country.

Kazakhstan

The Health Ministry in Kazakhstan confirmed that the total number of cases rose to 108,106, with 62 additions over the past 24 hours.

With the recovery of 82 patients, the total number of recoveries reached 103,110. The death toll rose to 1,740 as three more people lost their lives.
