Turkiye reported more than 100,000 coronavirus cases on Tuesday, the highest single-day figure in the country since the beginning of the pandemic.

The Health Ministry confirmed 102,601 new COVID-19 infections, 198 deaths, and 87,562 recoveries over the past day. As many as 452,173 virus tests were done during this period.

The country has administered more than 141.52 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines since it launched an immunization drive in January last year, according to official figures from the ministry.

More than 57.43 million people have received a first jab, while over 52.42 million have been fully vaccinated, the ministry said.

Turkey has also given third booster shots to more than 25.12 million people.

Health Minister Fahrettin Koca urged people to get their booster shots against the disease, saying on Twitter: "We have seen together how the vaccine reduces the devastating effects of COVID-19 in all areas of life. The stages of the pandemic showed that booster doses can never be neglected."

"Make sure you get booster dose. You can confidently choose Turkiye's locally manufactured COVID-19 vaccine Turkovac with high protection," he said.
