Turkish stocks up at Monday opening

ANKARA 

Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,382.74 points on Monday, up 12.04 points or 0.88% from the previous close.

At Friday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose 1.28% to 1,370.70 points with a daily trading volume of 30.6 billion Turkish liras ($3.9 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 7.8700 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Monday, up from last week's closing rate of 7.8360.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 9.5560, versus 9.4970, and one British pound traded for 10.5140 Turkish liras. It was 10.3840 at Friday's close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $50.40 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Monday.
