Turkish stocks up at midweek opening
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index up by around 7 points from previous close
ANKARA
Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,099.41 points on Wednesday, with a rise of 0.64% or 6.95 points from the previous close.
At Tuesday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 0.58% at 1,092.46 points, with a daily trading volume of 13.8 billion Turkish liras ($1.9 billion).
The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 7.3800 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), up from 7.3650 at the previous close.
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 8.8120 versus 8.7880 at Tuesday close, while one British pound traded for 9.8040 Turkish liras, climbing from 9.8490.
One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $45.05 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Wednesday.
