Turkish stocks hit all-time high at Thursday's close

ANKARA

Turkey's benchmark stock index hit an all-time high at 1,399.36 points, up 0.50%, at Thursday's close.

Starting the day at 1,403.10 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose 6.91 points over the midweek's close of 1,392.45 points.

During the day, the index hovered between 1,394.78 and 1,406.10 points -- 79 stocks on the index rose, 12 fell compared to the previous close.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.032 trillion Turkish liras ($132 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 28.9 billion Turkish liras (nearly $3.7 billion).

Shares of national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, private lender Garanti BBVA, and Pegasus saw the highest trading volumes.

Conglomerate Net holding was the best performer, with its shares up 10%, while stocks of real estate investment trust Is Gayrimenkul dropped the most, losing 3.78%.

The price of one ounce of gold was $1,878.00 by market close, up from $1,864.50 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $51.49 per barrel as of 6.10 p.m. local time (1510GMT) on Thursday.
