Turkish stocks down at Friday's close
BIST 100 index decreases 709.58 points from Thursday's close
ANKARA
Turkey's benchmark stock index ended the week at 119,140.08 points, down 0.59% from the previous close.
Starting the day at 120,096.24 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index dropped 709.58 points from the Thursday's close at 119,849.65 points.
During Friday's trading, the BIST 100 hovered between 119,202.03 points and 120,317.93 points, with 57 stocks on the index rising and 37 falling compared to the previous close.
Closing the day with a market value of nearly 826 billion Turkish liras ($138 billion), the benchmark index posted a daily trading volume of 14.5 billion Turkish liras (nearly $2.4 billion).
Shares of national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, Sise Cam and Soda Sanayii posted the highest trading volumes.
Stocks of glass manufacturer Trakya Cam gained the most -- up 14.88% -- while shares of car manufacturer TOFAS did the worst, falling 2.66%.
An ounce of gold sold for $1,579.00 at the daily close in Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, versus $1,579.70 at the previous close.
The price of Brent oil was $56.89 per barrel as of 6.05 p.m. local time (1505GMT) on Friday.
