SIIRT / MUS, Turkey
Turkish security forces seized arms and ammunition belonging to PKK terrorists in the eastern Siirt province, local administration said on Thursday.
In a statement, the Siirt Governorship said security forces seized weapons, ammunition, organizational documents and life-sustaining materials in the Mt. Tandir region in the Baykan district.
On Wednesday, five PKK terrorists were captured dead in the region as part of the ongoing Yildirim-11 Herekol anti-terror operation.
Separately, gendarmerie forces in eastern Mus province seized PKK’s life-sustaining materials and food buried in Haskoy district, said the Mus Governorship in a statement on Thursday.
This summer, Turkey has launched a series of security operations to neutralize terrorists believed to be hiding out in the country's east and southeast.
In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including women, children and infants.
