KABUL, Afghanistan

Turkey’s state-run relief agency delivered Thursday medical supplies and consumables to one of the largest children’s hospitals in Afghanistan’s capital amid coronavirus outbreak.

Kabul Office of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) delivered the aid to Ataturk National Children’s Hospital during a ceremony held in open air and in compliance with social distancing rules.

The ceremony was attended by the hospital’s chief physician Gulam Hasan Kamil, TIKA’s coordinator in Kabul Zuhtu Cal, and other physicians.

Speaking at the ceremony, Kamil thanked the Turkish nation for the aid during the hard days of Afghanistan, adding that TIKA had also provided the hospital with restoration work, personnel training, equipment, and medical aids before.

Cal, for his part, said the latest aid included medical equipment, protective suits, masks, and gloves.

He noted that TIKA will continue to stand with the Afghan government and nation in the future.
