Health authorities in Bahrain recorded additional deaths from the novel coronavirus on Wednesday, while Palestine reported fresh cases.

The Bahraini Health Ministry said two people died from the virus over the past 24 hours, while a total of 894 fresh infections were recorded.

The Gulf state’s tally to date now stands at 37,316 cases, including 130 deaths, and 33,455 recoveries.

In Palestine, the Health Ministry said 356 new infections were registered, bringing the total to 11,279 cases, including 67 deaths, and 2,124 recoveries.

The given figures cover the occupied West Bank, the blockaded Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem, the ministry said.

Since first appearing in China last December, the novel coronavirus has spread to at least 188 countries and regions. The US, Brazil, India, and Russia are currently the countries hardest hit in the world.

The pandemic has killed nearly 617,200 people worldwide, with more than 14.9 million confirmed cases, according to figures compiled by US-based Johns Hopkins University.

The number of recoveries from the pandemic across the globe has topped 8.4 million.
