Russian TASS director marks Anadolu Agency's centenary

MOSCOW (AA) - The head of the TASS news agency sent a letter to congratulate Anadolu Agency for its 100th anniversary Tuesday.

"Let me express my congratulations to you and the entire staff of the Anadolu Agency on the 100th anniversary of one of the world's leading media, founded by the outstanding Turkish politician Mustafa Kemal Ataturk,” Sergei Mikhailov wrote to Anadolu Agency's Director General Senol Kazanci. "I am sure that Anadolu Agency, despite such a difficult situation in the world, will continue to actively develop and achieve new successes in the information space.”

He praised cooperation between TASS and Anadolu Agency and said he hopes it evolves.

"The long-term fruitful cooperation between TASS and Anadolu has proved its effectiveness and has a positive impact on the relations between the peoples of Russia and Turkey. I hope for further development and strengthening of partnership relations between our agencies," he said.

Anadolu Agency, established April 6, 1920 by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founding father of the Turkish Republic, is celebrating its 100th anniversary.

Since its forming, the Ankara-based agency has worked to disseminate factual news across the globe with confidence, impartiality, professionalism and speed.

It is viewed as one of the world's most prestigious news agencies, currently producing news in 13 languages and serving 6,000 subscribers in 100 countries with at least 3,000 employees in 100 countries.
