ANKARA 

The Welsh national football team qualified for UEFA Euro 2020 late Tuesday with a 2-0 victory over Hungary.

Midfielder Aaron Ramsey scored the two goals in the 15th and 47th minutes in Cardiff to qualify Wales for the European Championship.

Wales also secured the runners-up position in Group E with 14 points.

Led by two stars, Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey of Juventus, Wales thrilled football fans in Europe as they reached the semifinals of the EURO 2016 held in France, which was their maiden European Championship.

But they were eliminated by champions Portugal in a 2-0 loss at the Stade de Lyon, marking the end of their fairytale run.

In addition to Wales, Group E winners Croatia advanced to Euro 2020.

- 20 teams qualify for Euro 2020

Some 20 teams went through to the Euro 2020 finals as the qualifying phase ended.

England, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Portugal, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Denmark, Croatia,Wales, Spain, Sweden, Poland, Austria, France, Turkey, Belgium, Russia, Italy and Finland bagged EURO 2020 tickets.

The group winners and runners-up of the 10 groups directly qualified for the Euro 2020 finals.

The remaining four teams will come from playoffs.

- 12 cities to host Euro 2020

Euro 2020 will be held across Europe for the first time in the competition's history, hosted by 12 cities.

European football's top-tier international event will be held from June 12 to July 12. The tournament will start with a Rome match and end in London.

The matches will be played in Azerbaijan, Germany, Italy, Russia, the Netherlands, Spain, Romania, Hungary, Denmark, Ireland, Scotland and the U.K.

The Euro 2020 finals draw will be held in the Romanian capital Bucharest on Nov. 30.

Germany - Northern Ireland: 6-1

- Group E:

Wales - Hungary: 2-0

Slovakia - Azerbaijan: 2-0

- Group G:

Poland - Slovenia: 3-2

North Macedonia - Israel: 1-0

- Group I:

Belgium - Greek Cypriot administration: 6-1

San Marino - Russia: 0-5

Scotland - Kazakhstan: 3-1
