Nearly 13,000 virus cases reported in Eurasia, C. Asia

KIEV, Ukraine

Nearly 13,000 more coronavirus cases have been reported in five Eurasian and Central Asian countries, according to data released on Monday.

Ukraine

Recoveries in Ukraine increased by 2,277 to reach 209,143, according to Health Minister Maksym Stepanov. 

The country also registered 8,687 new cases and 115 fatalities over the past 24 hours, raising the overall count to 469,018, including 8,565 deaths.

Some 1,100 patients were admitted to hospitals over the past day, the minister said.

Georgia

Georgia’s Prime Ministry announced that 2,470 more recoveries raised the total to 45,042.

The country’s case tally surged by 2,927 over the past day, reaching 60,721, while 24 more deaths moved the toll to 499. 

More than 15,000 people are still under treatment and 645 of them are in critical condition.

Kyrgyzstan

According to the Health Ministry of Kyrgyzstan, 571 more people contracted the virus, bringing the total number of infections to 63,390.

The death toll rose to 1,182, while 406 additional patients recovered, raising the total number of recoveries to 54,358.

Over 7,000 coronavirus patients are now being treated in the country.

Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan’s Health Ministry confirmed that 610 more people were diagnosed with the virus, taking the total number of cases to 116,772.

The death toll in the country reached 1,899 as six more people died over the past 24 hours.

The total number of recoveries rose to 107,843 with 175 additions.

The treatment of 7,030 COVID-19 patients, including 375 children, continues in the country. Some 190 people are seriously ill and 20 people are in critical condition.

A total of 29,182 pneumonia patients have recovered, with 44 additions over the past day.

Uzbekistan

According to a statement by Uzbekistan’s Health Ministry, the total number of coronavirus cases reached 68,788 as 123 more people contracted the virus. The death toll in the country rose to 585 as two more patients died from the virus.

At least 81 more people recovered from the virus in the country, bringing the total number of recoveries to 65,971. The recovery rate in the country stands at 96%.

As many as 2,232 virus patients are being treated in the country.
