Morocco announces 1st coronavirus death

RABAT, Morocco

Morocco on Tuesday confirmed its first fatality due to coronavirus.

The Health Ministry said an "89-year-old woman, who was suffering from chronic diseases of the respiratory system, heart, arteries and other diseases" died from the virus.

Authorities also confirmed a French tourist tested positive for the virus bringing the tally to three in the North African nation.

On March 2, Morocco reported first coronavirus case of a citizen who had returned from Italy.

The global death toll from coronavirus is over 4,000 with more than 113,000 confirmed cases in 110 countries, according to the World Health Organization.
