Kuwait confirmed four more cases of the novel coronavirus Tuesday, bringing the total to nine.

The Ministry of Health said the new cases were discovered among passengers who came from Iran that were already quarantined.

Meanwhile, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation announced that all flights to Singapore and Japan have been suspended due to the virus, which is officially known as COVID-19.

Kuwait on Monday decided to cancel national celebrations and sports competitions as part of its fight against the outbreak.

Due to the new type of coronavirus, Kuwait has evacuated approximately 800 citizens from Iran, where 16 deaths from COVID-19 have been reported.
