Greek Super League likely to resume on June 6-7

ANKARA

Greek Super League clubs agreed Monday to resume its playoffs on June 6-7.

On its website, the league stated that the clubs decided to continue the season on the first weekend of next month and a request towards this end will be forwarded to the related authorities for approval.

Super League's championship and relegation playoffs had been postponed in March because of the COVID-19.

Olympiakos was leading league with 66 points after 26 games.

The country currently has 2,836 coronavirus cases, with the death toll standing at 165 as of Monday evening.

After originating in Wuhan, China last December, COVID-19 has spread to at least 188 countries and regions, with Europe and the US currently the worst hit.

The pandemic has killed nearly 317,000 people worldwide, with more than 4.7 million confirmed cases, while recoveries have surpassed 1.7 million, according to figures compiled by Johns Hopkins University in the US.
