ISTANBUL 

Former Olympic champion Turkish wrestler Kazim Ayvaz died at the age of 83 on Sunday.

Former Olympic and World champion Turkish wrestler Kazim Ayvaz died in Sweden on Sunday evening, Turkish Wrestling Federation said in a statement on Monday.

He was born in Rize, Turkey in 1937 and started his wrestling career in 1953.

Ayvaz won World Championship titles twice, in 1958 in Hungary and 1962 in USA.

He also won Tokyo Olympics in 1964.

After his successful career, he moved to Sweden.
