ANKARA

Kenyan athlete Faith Kipyegon bagged a gold medal on Friday in Women's 1,500-meters at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, with a record time of 3:53.11.

The previous record was held by Romanian Paula Ivan with 3:53.96 set in 1988.

Laura Muir of the UK achieved a silver medal with 3:54.50 while Dutch Sifan Hassan won bronze with a time of 3:55.86.

Kipyegon, 27, brought a second gold medal for Kenya at Tokyo 2020.

This was also her second Olympic gold with this victory. The first gold medal of the Kenyan athlete was in Women's 1,500-meters at Rio 2016.
