Explosion hits oil tanker off Saudi Arabian port
Singapore-flagged BW Rhine reportedly hit by ‘external source’
JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia
An oil tanker off the Saudi Arabian port of Jeddah was hit by an explosion Monday, according to local sources.
The Singapore-flagged BW Rhine suffered material damage after being hit by “an external source”, the BW Group, a shipping company, said in a statement.
All 22 crew members on board survived the blast without injury, the statement said.
The company warned of a possible oil spill due to the explosion.
No statement has yet been issued by Saudi Arabia or Houthis in Yemen.
