COVID-19 death toll rises to 506 in Sudan

KHARTOUM, Sudan

Sudan confirmed 19 additional fatalities from the coronavirus Friday, taking the nationwide death toll to 506. 

A further 296 new cases were registered, bringing that tally to 8,316, health officials said in a statement.

A total of 3,086 people have recovered.

After originating in Wuhan, China last December, COVID-19 has spread to at least 188 countries and regions, with US, Brazil and Russia are currently the hardest-hit in the world.

The pandemic has killed nearly 459,000 people worldwide with more than 8.6 million confirmed cases, while recoveries have surpassed 4.22 million, according to figures compiled by Johns Hopkins University in the US.
