ANKARA 

Peru reported 183 deaths from the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours, health officials there said late Monday. 

The death toll climbed to 10,772, while the number of diagnosed cases rose to 305,703 with 2,985 additional infections.

At least 197,619 people have recovered from the virus.

Meanwhile, according to the country's media, at least 400 teachers have died from the virus since the beginning of the outbreak.

Since originating in Wuhan, China in December, the coronavirus pandemic has claimed over 537,400 lives in 188 countries and regions.

The US, Brazil, India and Russia are currently the worst-hit countries.

More than 11.59 million cases have been reported worldwide, with recoveries exceeding 6.27 million, according to figures compiled by US-based Johns Hopkins University.
