Countries willing to accept health certificate: China

ANKARA

China on Wednesday said its new cross-border travel health certificate has been met with a positive international response.

“Many countries and some international organizations have expressed their willingness to conduct mutual recognition [of the certificate] with China,” Lijian Zhao, a spokesman for China’s Foreign Ministry, told a news conference in Beijing, according to Chinese daily Global Times.

Wang Yi, China’s state councilor and foreign minister, told a news conference last Sunday that the health certificate is meant to “facilitate the safe and orderly flow of personnel.”

The move is aimed at boosting the international travel of people as countries normalize out of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The certificate, available in both digital and paper forms, shows one's nucleic acid test and serum antibody results, vaccine inoculation, and other information. It is available for Chinese citizens via a WeChat mini program, according to CGTN television.
