ANKARA

Turkey's benchmark stock index ended Tuesday at 1,544.05 points, an increase of 0.60%.

Starting the day at 1,538.56 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index climbed 9.14 points from 1,534.91 points at Monday’s close.

On Tuesday, the BIST 100 hovered between 1,535.59 and 1,551.83 points – 39 stocks on the index rose, 59 fell, and two were flat compared to the previous close.

Closing the day with a market value of some 1.2 trillion Turkish liras ($165 billion), the benchmark index posted a historic high daily trading volume of 32 billion Turkish liras ($4.5 billion).

Shares of gold miner Koza Altin, private lender Garanti BBVA and real estate investment trust Emlak Konut saw the highest trading volumes.

Stocks of bedding and furniture company Yatas saw the best performance, up 5.92%, while shares of venture capital firm Gozde did the worst, losing 6.49%.

One ounce of gold sold for $1,843.50 by market close, up from $1,824.00, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent oil was $60.57 per barrel as of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT) on Tuesday, with a daily range of $60.05 to $61.27.
