Borsa Istanbul stocks up at Thursday's open

ISTANBUL

Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 2,013.12 points on Thursday, up 0.43%, or 8.57 points, from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index of Borsa Istanbul climbed 1.19% to close on Wednesday at 2,004.55 points, exceeding 2,000 points for the first time. The daily trading volume was 50.5 billion Turkish liras ($3.7 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 13.7040 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), versus 13.7600 at the previous close.

The euro/lira exchange rate was down to 15.5280 from 15.5490, while a British pound traded for 18.1430 liras, down from 18.2270.

A barrel of Brent crude oil was sold for around $76.3 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
