Balkan news agencies meet in Kosovo's capital Pristina

BELGRADE, Serbia

News agencies of Balkan-South East Europe (ABNA-SE) met in Kosovo's capital Pristina for the 29th General Assembly.

The three-day event hosted by KosovaPress News Agency began on Thursday night with an opening reception at the National Museum.

Anadolu Agency was represented by the agency’s Editor-in-Chief Yusuf Ozhan and Board of Directors member Yusuf Ozkir.

At the opening ceremony, ABNA-SE Term President Albanian Telegraphic Agency General Manager Armela Krasniqi said the responsibility of the media has increased due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"From the first day of the pandemic, media freedom has faced many challenges. The demand for reporting on this extremely extraordinary situation has increased and the people quarantined in their homes were longing for information.

"It has been a difficult year. We noticed that the public has now been much more interested in news," said Krasniqi.

ABNA-SE's new website and logo, designed by Anadolu Agency, will be introduced by Editor-in-Chief Ozhan at the General Assembly.

The event, including a conference, with the theme Media and News Agencies in the Post-COVID-19 Era, will end on Sunday.
