Turkish foreign minister, Council of Europe head meet

BRUSSELS

Turkey's foreign minister met with Thorbjorn Jagland, secretary general of the Council of Europe, on Thursday on the sidelines of a meeting on Syria in Brussels.

"Stressed to @TJagland, Secretary General of the Council of Europe, it is vital that following his example the next SG shows also a constructive attitude towards member States, and maintains dialogue, inclusiveness and fairness as guiding principles," Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Twitter.

Cavusoglu also met with UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development President Suma Chakrabarti, and his Romanian counterpart Teodor-Viorel Melescanu.

He is expected to meet with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg as well.

In addition to the Syria conference, Cavusoglu is in Brussels to attend a Turkey-EU Association Council meeting on Friday.
