A high-speed train driver was killed Tuesday after a TGV collided with a military convoy truck at a level crossing in northern France, authorities said.
The crash occurred near Nœux-les-Mines at around 7 am local time (0500GMT), according to emergency services and rail operator SNCF.
The driver, reportedly in his 50s, died from the impact, the local prefecture said.
About 350 passengers were on board the train, and at least 27 people were injured, BFMTV reported.
Rail traffic between Bethune and Lens was suspended for the rest of the day.
French Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot said he would travel to the scene along with SNCF CEO Jean Castex.
Authorities have opened an investigation into the cause of the accident.
