Protesters stage sit-ins in several Dutch cities in support of Palestine

Simultaneous protests held at 20 train stations, including in Utrecht

UTRECHT, Netherlands

Protesters held sit-ins in support of Palestine at 20 train stations in several Dutch cities Tuesday, including Utrecht, Amsterdam and Rotterdam.

The simultaneous demonstrations took place in several cities across the country to draw attention to the human tragedy occurring in the occupied territories and to mark the two-year anniversary of the beginning of the current war in Gaza.

In Utrecht, which served as a central location, protesters gathered at the train station carrying Palestinian flags and held a sit-in demanding an end to Israel’s genocide.

The demonstrators also criticized the Dutch government for supporting Israel.

Speakers emphasized that the genocide has continued for two years and that international law has failed to function.

Carrying signs saying “Stop the genocide,” “Justice now,” “Free Palestine” and “Stop killing Gaza,” protesters chanted slogans such as “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” “Stop the genocide,” and “Gaza, don’t you cry, we will always protect you.”

After the sit-in, demonstrators marched through the city center and inside the Hoog Catharijne shopping mall before concluding the protest.
