France’s Elysee Palace was searched Tuesday morning by investigators from the financial and anti-corruption brigade (BFAC) of the Paris judicial police, Le Figaro reported.
The probe focuses on contracts between the French presidency and events firm Shortcut Events, which organized Pantheon induction ceremonies between 2002 and 2024, Le Figaro said, citing Le Canard enchaine.
The company is reported to have repeatedly secured the contracts over more than two decades, with each Pantheon ceremony costing the state about €2 million ($2.4 million).
Contacted by the French outlet, the presidency has not yet responded.
According to local sources, personal computers were voluntarily handed over to investigators in line with requests from the investigating magistrate.
