GE Renewable Energy will supply a total of 81 wind turbines for installation in the Hebei province of China, the company announced on Tuesday.
GE confirmed that 54 turbines will be installed at the Senjitu III wind project and 27 turbines will be located in the Qiansongba wind project in China.
The full installation of Qiansongba will occur in two phases throughout 2017, with the completed projects scheduled to begin commercial operations by the end of 2017.
Together, these projects aim to provide an additional 199.5 megawatts of power for the region - enough clean energy to power the equivalent of 800,000 homes, the company said.
The deal also includes GE's Digital Wind Farm solutions, an expanded services agreement that comprises of customizable hardware and software solutions that optimize wind farm performance as well as a two-year warranty.
"The energy generated from these wind farms will supply the nearest North China Power Grid and aid Beijing in its transition to clean fuels," GE said.
China aims to produce 15 percent of overall energy output from renewable sources by 2020, and increase wind installations to over 200 gigawatts of total capacity by the end of 2020 in accordance with their renewable target.
