Saipem wins $850M pipeline contract in onshore Kuwait

- Work includes construction of 450 kilometer-long pipeline system of various diameters for crude transit to Al Zour refinery

Italian engineering contractor Saipem was awarded a new $850 million contract in the onshore engineering and construction (E&C) sector, the company announced on Wednesday.

The activities of the company will involve engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning for the “Feed Pipelines for the New Refinery Project (NRP)” for the development of the new Al Zour refinery located in the south of Kuwait.

Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), a subsidiary of the Gulf country’s national oil company, the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), awarded the contract, Saipem said.

The scope of work comprises the construction of a system of pipelines of various diameters, approximately 450 kilometers in length, for the transportation of crude oil and gas from various KOC South Tank Farm manifolds to the new Al Zour refinery.
