Project operator Nord Stream 2 AG laid over 200 kilometers of pipe for the Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline in the Baltic Sea, the company announced late Tuesday.
According to the company's statement, some 20 vessels are operating simultaneously to ensure the timely completion of the project.
The company said the pipelay barge Castoro Dieci has completed the scope of its operations in the Bay of Greifswald in Germany.
The versatile pipelaying vessel Audacia is undertaking pipelaying in German territorial waters, while the offshore pipelaying vessel Solitaire is continuing works in the Finnish exclusive economic zone.
'All works are being carried out according to the permits received,' the company said.
'All 200 thousand steel pipes required for the pipeline have been delivered from the pipe mills to the two coating plants. So far, over 72 percent of them have been concrete weight coated and are being delivered to pipelay vessels from the logistics hubs around the clock,' the company added.
The Nord Stream 2, a 1,230 kilometer-long pipeline project, will carry Russian natural gas to the European market through the Baltic Sea.
The pipeline plans to carry 55 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year, enough to supply 26 million European households.
