Turkey's wind electricity generation hit a daily record on Monday, generating 20.2% of total power, according to data from Turkey's Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Tuesday.
The country produced 174,542 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity from wind farms on Monday, according to data provided by TEIAS.
This record placed wind power as the second-largest energy source after natural gas, which produced 282,017 MWh of electricity, marking a 32.6% share. Lignite followed with 112,452 MWh with a 13% share.
Total electricity production amounted to 864,141 megawatt-hours on Monday, marking a 14.5% increase compared to Sunday.
Daily electricity consumption in the country also increased by 14.6% totaling 863,664 megawatt-hours on Monday compared to the previous day.
Hourly power consumption peaked at 41,751 megawatt-hours at 12.00 local time (0900 GMT), data from TEIAS showed. The country's electricity usage dropped to the lowest level of 27,533 megawatt-hours at 04.00 local time (0100 GMT).
On Monday, Turkey's electricity exports amounted to 10,450 megawatt-hours and imports totaled 10,225 megawatt-hours.
