Danish renewable energy developer Eurowind Energy has started construction of three wind farms in Romania with a combined capacity of 138 megawatts (MW), the company announced on Monday.
The company received construction authorizations from Romania's energy regulator ANRE for the Frumusita, Vector and Pecineaga Nord-East wind farms.
The three projects will be equipped with 23 Vestas turbines and are expected to begin operations in 2027.
The Frumusita wind farm in Galati County will have a capacity of 66 MW with 11 turbines, while the nearby Vector project will have a capacity of 24 MW with four turbines. The Pecineaga Nord-East wind farm in Constanta County will add 48 MW with eight turbines.
Eurowind Energy said deliveries of Vestas V162-6.2 MW turbines are scheduled for the second half of 2026, while the projects will be covered by a 20-year maintenance agreement.
"These projects matter not only for their size, but because they mark a new stage in wind energy development at the national level. This is a step that reflects the consistency of energy policy in recent years, and we hope this direction continues, in order to support long-term investment and Romania's energy transition," Adrian Dobre, Country Manager of Eurowind Energy Romania, was quoted as saying.
